PKS Challenge 45 :: Just Cards :: Shape It Up!

 Good morning and happy Friday!
Are you all geared up for a fabulous weekend?
The Halls are being decked, and it's sure beginning to look a lot like
Christmas around here.  Well, all except for the snow, and with
it being almost 60 degrees today, I kinda doubt that we'll be
seeing any of the white stuff.  While the warm weather
is sure nice, it doesn't make it feel much like
Christmas, BUT making Christmas
cards sure does!

Here's the card I made for the latest Peachy Keen Challenge #45.  For this challenge, we're "Shaping It Up", meaning that cards and projects need to be shaped, and that's something other than the standard square or rectangle.  Some of my DT Sistahs have created amazing shaped cards as well, so be sure to head on over to The Peachy Keen Challenge Blog to check out their designs and find all the details about this challenge.

I chose to actually use some of the SVG files I've been collecting by making this Santa shaped card.  The SVG files comes from SVG Cuts using the Santa Card file from their Christmas Open House Kit.  I am in love with their files, and I've found them VERY reasonably priced for all that's included.  They often offer a sale where if you buy two you get a specific kit FREE!  Whoohoo!  I LOVE free, and that's exactly how I acquired this Christmas Open House kit!  Here's my card, and I love the way it turned out, BTW.  ;-)  You don't often hear me say that out loud, because I'm my own worst critic!
Isn't that the CUTEST little winking face you've seen?  I knew when I saw this card file that I wanted to use my new Peachy Keen Everyday Character Faces 1.75" to give Santa that ornery wink.  It turned out just as I pictured it in my head, and yes, I DO picture things in my head... ALL the time!!  It's how I roll!!  I cut the pieces for Santa with my Silhouette Cameo using the Make The Cut software.  I ran the piece for Santa's beard and mustache through the Big Shot using the swirls Cuttlebug embossing folder, and I sponged the edges using Sahara Sand ink from Stampin' Up!.  The skin tones were sponged with Cameo Coral Stamin' Up! ink, and his face was stamped with Memento Tuxedo black ink.  I colored the white of his eye with a Saukura White Gelly Roll Pen ( My MOST FAVORITE white gel pen).

For the sparkle on the fur of Santa's hat, I inked the pieces with Versamark clear watermark ink, and sprinkled them with Heat and Stick powder from Stampin' Up!  Using a heat embossing tool, I began melting the powder, and  after the powder is all melted, it gets REALLY sticky.   I then gave the pieces a generous dose of Martha Steward chunky glitter and the heat set it again.  This technique works so well, and the glitter doesn't come off if you use the heat and stick powder.  It stays in tact so much better than simply using glue and glitter.  Works like a charm EVERY time!

Well, I hope you think Santa is as totally adorable as I do!
It was sure fun making him, and I thank you so very
much for stopping by my blog.  Have a
glorious day and HAPPY STAMPING!
