New Releases at Sweet -n Sassy Stamps & A Midnight Madness Challenge

Hello, and happy Tuesday!  July is almost here, and my card today is a celebration of July, and this newly released stamp set from Sweet -n Sassy Stamps.  Larkspur is the flower for July, and I"ll be honest and tell you that before this stamp set  I had no idea what larkspur looks like.  Well, Leah's beautifully illustrated stamp took care of that, but I was still at a loss for what color to go with.  Thank heaven for Google.  Anywho, this is what I came up with.  I played along with the Midnight Madness sketch challenge, and really blinged this one up.  I used some Stampin' Up! striped grosgrain ribbon for many of the elements on this card.  I simply folded the ribbon and gathered it for the ribbon ruffle, and the ribbon flower was made following tutorial I saw on You Tube.  You can see that tutorial here.  The designer paper comes from K&Co.'s Blue Awning collection, and the paper flowers under the ribbon flower are also from K&Co., and match the Blue Awning paper.  I cut a tag with my Bigshot, using one of the Sizzix dies from the Lots of Tags set from Stampin Up!.  I doodled a little bit around the edge with a white gel pen, and finished that element off with the three rhinestones.  Lots of work went in to this one, but I really like the way it turned out, and I hope you do, too.

Please join me tonight  in the Sweet -n Sassy Stamps group forum on SNR Card Universe for a celebration of the newest 10 stamp sets to be released.  There's going to be challenges, prizes, inspiration, and lots of fun chatting with Korin and the girls, and I hope to see you there.  We'll be starting the party at 9 p.m. (EST), and winding up around 11 p.m. (EST).  We had so much fun at our last PAR-TAY, and I'm sure looking forward to another one!  Join us tonight for the fun, friends, and of course, the FREEBIES!!

I'm so happy you could stop by today.  Make it a beautiful day, and happy stamping!

Sweet Stop Sketch #62

Good morning, and happy Saturday!  I've been busy this morning playing along with the Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge.  What a great and inspirational sketch.  I made this thank you card with my new Sweet -n Sassy clear stamps.  I used the May Lily of the Valley set.  These flowers of the month are so wonderful to have for a variety of card making needs.  This set comes with the beautiful flowers, of course, but also includes some great sentiments for every day use, like Thanks, Hello, and With Sympathy, in addition to the May and Lily of the Valley sentiments.   A great set to have, I'm tellin' ya!!  :)

Those of you who know me, know I love anything vintage.  I have to laugh, because I guess you have a true appreciation for vintage once you become vintage.  LOL!!  Anyway, I used K&Co. designer paper from the Charlotte collection for this card.  I did a lot of distressing on my fleur de lis pieces, ribbon, and around the edges of the panels with my Tim Holtz antique linen ink.  The image was colored with Copic markers, and I finished off the embellishments with some cream colored pearls.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  It's always my pleasure to have you, and I hope you'll come back soon!  Have a beautiful day, and happy stamping!!

TSB Sew Special Blog Hop

Hello everyone, and welcome to another fun blog hop for The Stamping Boutique!! Today's theme is sewing, and we have three awesome images to share with you --all available at The Stamping Boutique. The first stop on today's hop is KYM.
I have made my card for today with one of the newly released digis, from The Stamping Boutique, Cynthia's New Wings On Life.  I colored Cynthia with Copic markers, and the DP comes from Bo Bunny, and Stamping Up.  I did a lot of hand sewing on this one to go with the sewing theme of this hop, and added a few rhinestones here and there for a little bling.  The sentiment comes from the Vivienne and Friends stamp set available from Peachy Keen Stamps, and the sketch was altered just a wee bit from the Sunday Sketch and Stamp Challenge.

Thanks for stopping by today, and your next stop will be with the very talented and creative Jennifer.  Below, there's a complete list of hop stops in order, just in case you get lost along the way.  Happy Hopping!!

Peachy Keen Challenge #31

Good morning!  Well, it's time for another Peachy Keen Challenge, and this week, it's a sketch challenge!

When I saw the sketch, I immediately thought porthole card, and I also knew right away which image I wanted to use.  I've had this cute shark from the PK952 Ocean Fun set from Peachy Keen Stamps colored since last summer, but had yet to put him on a card, and I knew this would be perfect for it.  The bubbles  and starfish come from PK951 Sea Animals and Creatures stamp set.  I colored those with my Copic markers, but the shark was water colored and then given a coat of silver Shimmerz paint.  It's a really great effect, but the photo doesn't pick up on that very well.  The sentiment comes from Best Yet from Stampin' Up!, as does the woodgrain background stamp, which I used to make the porthole.  I used some silver brads around the edges of the porthole, and page pebbles on the bubbles for a little more dimension to this card.  There is a layer of acetate between the frame and the shark, which gives this card authentic porthole look.  I found this designer paper in my scrap bag, and I believe it comes from K&Co., but I'm not sure which collection.

Head over to the Peachy Keen Challenge Blog to check out this wonderful sketch that Angelica gave us to work with, and of course all the amazing design team samples for your inspiration.  They're gonna knock your socks off!!  Be sure to upload your creations for this challenge to the Peachy Keen Challenge Blog by Sunday, July 4th.  There will again be two winners.  The judged winner will receive their choice of the new Monster Face Stamps, and the random winner will receive the Happy Little Bigger Froggies set.  All of those samples can be seen on the challenge blog.

Digi Day for Father's Day

Good morning!!  How about a free digital stamp today?  It's Sweet -n Sassy Digi Day on Paper Craft Planet and SNR Card Universe, and if you play along with the Masculine Challenge, you could earn FREE STAMPS!  Check out today's post in the Sweet -n Sassy Stamps Group forum on both websites for complete details and lots of inspiration from our design team and friends of Sweet -n Sassy Stamps.   It's a day filled with fun, friends, fellowship and FREEBIES, so hop on over ASAP!!
For my card today, I used the Bowling Strike image illustrated by Korin's son, Aston Sutherland.  What a great image for the guy in your life who loves to bowl!  That would be my dad!!!!  I followed the Sweet Stop Saturday Sketch from this week, and pulled the pattered paper out of my scrap bag.  I'm hitting that scrap bag hard this week, and that's the plan.  Gotta move out the old, so that I can bring in some new!  LOL!!!   For the black and white checkered strip, I just cut a piece of black card stock, and stuck some 3/4" punched squares to it in a checkered pattern.  As always, I colored with Copics, and I embellished with grosgrain ribbon that I threaded through the buttons.

I'm tellin' ya that talent abounds in the Sutherland family, because the Early Bird Freebie for today was illustrated by Aidan Sutherland.  Pick up this Golf Tee digi free just for playing along with the challenge by midnight tonight, and uploading your card to one of the forum threads listed above.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  It's always my pleasure to have you.  I enjoy your comments, encouragement and support.  It's what keeps me craftin'!!  There's still time to enter to win my  blog candy giveaway (See post below).  Just leave a comment and your contact information for your chance to win.  Have a glorious day, and may it be filled with happy staming!

Blog Hoppin' with Vivienne and Friends

Good morning, and welcome!  Today, we're celebrating a new release at Peachy Keen Stamps, and this is one special release, so without further delay, let's get hoppin'!!!  If you arrived here from our honoree Viv's Blog, then you're on the right track.  If not, then you'll want to go back to the beginning at the Peachy Keen Challenge blog, so that you don't miss one wonderful creation!

The stamp set available for the first time ever today is called Vivienne and Friends, and was created in honor of our very special DT member Vivienne Holden.  I can't begin to tell you what a blessing is it to serve on this design team with such a fantastic lady.  I wish I could count how many times one of Viv's emails has brought a smile to my face, or an outright burst of laughter to the room, and I can't think of a better person to celebrate with such a special honor as having her very own stamp set.  The inspiration and joy she brings to so many of us should be celebrated each and every day!!  Our fearless leader, Kathy, has outdone herself this time with this adorable stamp set, which includes Miss Vivienne, along with some oh so cute friends for her to play with and a great assortment of sentiments.

Both of my cards were made with scraps from my scrap paper bag.   Gotta love those scraps!!  I colored the images with my Copics, and had a ball with embellishments.  I hope you likey!!

Your next stop as you hop along is at the ever so talented Janice's Blog.  Oh my goodness!  I've seen what Janice has in store for you, so hop, and hop fast, right on over there and check it out!!  In case you get lost along the way, here's a complete list of stops for this happy hop:

Lorie Souther (You're here)

Oh, and before you leave, be sure to leave a comment on this post, because I'll be drawing the name of one lucky commenter for a blog candy grab bag (which will include at least 1 stamp, and a variety of card making goodies).  Be sure to include your contact info so that I can let you know when you win!  :)  Thanks so much for hopping along with us today in celebration of our Viv!  Have a glorious day and happy stamping!

I Woof You!

Hello and happy Friday!!  Today I'm playing along with the Friday Free For All on Splitcoaststampers, and the challenge is Jelly Filled Doughnut.  What????  Well, that's a fun way of saying that for this challenge we're to put a hole in the center of the outside of the card, and put the image, or "yummy goodness" in the middle, or inside of the card.   Well, that's exactly what I've done with this cute little Woof You pup from Sweet -n Sassy Stamps.  This Woof You set is one of the newly released clear stamps, and he's one of my favs!!

I colored him up with my Copics, and stamped the paw prints up the side of the card.  The card itself was run through the Cuttlebug using the Swiss Dots folder, then the window was cut using my rectangle nesties.  I added some gemstones to the corners of the window, stamped the sentiment and punched it out with my oval and scalloped oval punches, and finished the card off with the stitched and dotted ribbon from Stampin' Up!.

Thanks for stopping by today, and I wish you a blessed weekend filled with happy stamping!

Fairy Cynthia

Good morning!  Today I'm sharing a card with you that I made for the 2 Sketches 4 You Challenge, which is sponsored this week by The Stamping Boutique.   I used one of the Fairy Cynthia digis,  Cynthia Gathering Mushrooms.  This special little lady is a part of a contest Tracey has going to see how many galleries we can find to upload this image to.  Blogs count, so I guess I've got a start!!  :)

I colored Cynthia with my Copic markers, and used the "Out of the Box" technique when I cut the image out with my scalloped circle nesties.  I went with that technique in order to stay with the oval element for the 2 Sketches 4 You Sketch.  The DP is from K&Co., and I kept the embellishments simple with the grosgrain ribbon and cute little heart button.

I'm so happy you could stop by today for a visit!  I wish you a glorious day filled with lots of love and happy stamping!!

A Beachy Keen Shadowbox

Good afternoon!  I'm FINALLY able to make my post today.  So sorry I'm behind, but I've been having some internet issues, and it took a while to get my service up and running this morning.  We had some strong thunderstorms move through early this a.m., and my net has been down ever since!

It's time to share a fantastic and fun Peachy Keen Challenge!  Angelica has challenged us to create a shadowbox with a summer theme.  Well, of course I thought immediately of Swimtime Lulee, and Boogie Board Max, and these cute little animals from the Ocean Fun set, all from Peachy Keen Stamps.  I created this 8x8 layout with scraps of paper, and for the sand, I crumpled up some kraft card stock until it was broken down really well, then I peeled the layers apart in two pieces, exposing the fuzzy inside of the card stock.  I think that's called the faux suede technique?  Maybe??  Anyway, it's a neat look.  I sponged the edges of the sand with cocoa colored ink, and color spritzed it  with some chocolate chip and cocoa colored ink.  The adorable images were colored with Copics, and popped up on dimensionals.  I scattered some real seashells in the bottom of the shadowbox, and voila!  Summertime shadowbox project finished and ready for hanging!  Soooo cute!!

Here's a little closer view of some of the details.

I really hope you get to play along with this challenge.  These little boxes make great gifts, especially if you have a "beachy" or summer photo to add.  What a sweet and special gift for anyone!!   Now, you've just got to go over to the Peachy Keen Challenge Blog, to see what the rest of the talented girls have for your inspiration.  Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Have a blessed day filled with happy stamping!  Shadowbox stamping, that is!!  :-)

Brewing Storm...

Good morning!  I had a project to share with you today, but I decided these pictures I snapped of a storm that popped up last night were too good not to share.  My camera isn't the best at zooming, but you can definitely see a storm shaping in these photos.  In the midwest, tornados are a routine part of spring and early summer.  We go through the drills, and teach our kids early on to watch the weather this time of year, pay attention, and be prepared, but you're never quite prepared for the phenominal destruction that one of these storms can leave in it's aftermath.  The last time we were hit by devistating storms was in 2004, when it took the majority of the roof off of our home, broke out windows, and left a path of destruction for miles.  This storm didn't get that close to us, but there were reported sights of up to three tornados on the ground within this cell in surrounding areas, with no reports of damage to my knowledge.

Photo #1 - At this point the storm was Northeast of New Cambria.

Photo #2 - A little more distant picture as the wall cloud slowly moves east/southeast.

Photo #3 - As the storm traveled, you could see the rotation in the lower part of the wall cloud.

Photo #4 - The storm is tracking over the Callao area, and continues to become larger and wider.

Photo #5 - At this point the storm appears to be at it widest point.

Photo #6 - The tails that started dropping down out of the wall cloud.  You can see the tapering, and rotation as the clouds gather and spin.

Photo #7 - Three tails appear to be dipping down out of that huge cloud, and shortly after the storm started to dissipate.

I thank you so much for stopping by today.  I wish you a blessed and "storm free" weekend, and LOTS of happy stamping!

A Day At The Beach

Good morning!  Well, it's Friday, and another weekend is almost upon us.  I for one, am thrilled about that!!  This is what I'd like to be doing this weekend.  It won't happen, but a girl can dream, right?  This is the first easel card I've made on my own, and now I understand why these are so popular.  They're surprisingly easy and lots of fun to make.  For this card I used the Baby Boy on the Beach image from The Stamping Boutique.  Of course I colored this with Copics, and I used patterned paper from DCWV that was a gift from my sweet stamping sister, Paola.  With all the shells surrounding this little boy, I kept thinking about pearls, so pearl embellishments it was.  I originally prepared this card for The Sew Many Challenges Blog, but there was a little mix up in the challenge details.  Their challenge is to create a Father's Day card and not use the color blue.  Well, obviously I didn't get that memo, but I created a card, nonetheless.  It would still be fun to play along with the Sew Many Challenges Blog, and that's exactly what I think I'll do.  :)

Have you heard that The Stamping Boutique is sponsoring a brand new challenge?  Yep, they sure are!!  Their new challenge will run an entire month, and you can enter as many times as you want.  All you have to do is upload your creations using The Stamping Boutique images to their challenge blog, to be in the drawing for a chance to win a fabulous prize each time you enter.  Now, I ask you... Does it get any easier than that?  I don't think so!  We want to see what you're doing with TSB images, so I invite you to do some happy stamping and play along today!

Thanks so much for dropping by today.  Have a blessed day, and a beeeeaaaauuutiful weekend!!

Sweet Cocoa!

Hello, and happy Thursday!  Is anyone else glad that the weekend is almost here?  After being away from home for a couple of days last weekend, and the Monday holiday, this has been one busy and messed up week for me.  I'll be releived to be back in a routine.  Today I'm sharing a card I made for the Sweet -n Sassy Stamps release party last Tuesday.  This is made with the newly released clear stamps So Sweet Cocoa.  Isn't he a cutie innocently sitting there in that donut?  The clear stamps are back, and Cocoa is a popular little fella, so you'd better get yours ordered today

I colored This image with Copic markers, and added the little glass beads for sprinkles.  The paper all came from my scrap bin.  I followed the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge for this week.  What a fabulous sketch, and right up my alley, because I could use that yummy ribbon for embellishment!  Oh, how I loves my ribbon!!

I hope you're having a beautiful day, and I hope you're enjoying some happy stamping!  Wishing you many happy blessings!

Love ya,
Lorie
