I created this sweet little patriotic card using The Patriotic Outhouse stamp , and Let Freedom Ring from Impression Obsession, and I paired it with some GREAT product from Flower Soft.

I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto X-Press It Blending Card, and colored with Copic Markers.  For the flowers I used a mixture of two different Flower Soft sprinkles, as well as Flower Soft glue.  The first layer for the flowers was done with Flower Soft Ultra Fine in Citrus Crush color, and after that dried for a few minutes, I added some Flower Soft Spring color in just a few places right over the top of the Citrus Crush.  I like mixing the two textures for a very full and almost dimensional look.  I also added a little bit of Flower Soft Tree Textures to the tiny trees around the barn and house in the image.

 Here's a little closer look at the detail of the Flower Soft Product.  I was going for a look of Summer flowers or Marigolds.

This was sure a fun image to color, and the pop of color and texture that the Flower Soft adds makes a perfect pairing!

PKC 13-25 :: Photo Inspiration

Good morning and Happy Friday to you!
It's time for another fun Peachy Keen Challenge, and I've got a card to share with you for it that is WAY outside of my comfort zone!  That's what challenges are all about, thought, right?  Makes us step outside our comfort zone once in a while?

This challenge is a photo inspiration challenge, and this is the photo from which we are to draw inspiration from.
There's a beautiful color palette that could be followed, and I did choose a couple of colors from that, but only the orange and yellow.  When I saw those colors, I immediately thought of the background paper that we made at the Copic Color and Ink Workshop I attended in Anaheim, CA in January.  The vibrant yellow and orange background was where inspiration took me.  That and the tiny bit of a red frame you see around the window in the back of the photo.  Well, here's my card so you can see for yourself.
Now, not only are these bright colors way out of my comfort zone, but so also is the fact that I didn't color anything!  GASP!  I know!  It just didn't feel right at all!  ;-)  Earlier this month Peachy Keen Stamps came out with these beautiful tropical flower stamps (PK-211 Tropical Floral), and I wanted to try the rock and roll technique using them.  The solid surface of these stamps make them perfect for that technique, and I kept with the background colors when I did my stamping, but this would have been very pretty and even more dramatic using a vibrant contrasting color, too.  The Fun in the Sun sentiment comes from the PKSC-18 June 2013 stamp set.  The red frame/blingy border was created using red line tape, glass beads, and glitter.  That stuff is REALLY sticky, so all I had to do was randomly sprinkle the beads on, then fill in the bare spots with glitter.  Overall, it was a fairly simple card, but the pop of the background and added bling gives it that extra umph and takes it right over the top.  Juuuuust the way I like 'em!  ;-)

Drop by The Peachy Keen Stamps Challenge Blog for more wonderful inspiration from my DT sisters!  They are awesome, and you'll see why when you get there!  If you get the chance, I hope you'll play along with our challenge.  I'd love to see where this photo takes you with creativity this week!

Have a fabulous weekend and happy stamping!!!!

Father's Day :: Flower Soft

The time is almost here!  Yes, we're getting ever closer to Father's Day.  That wonderful day of the year that we set aside to honor the amazing men in our lives.   I'm blessed to be surrounded by some pretty phenomenal men, and admittedly, SOMETIMES... ummmmm...MANY times they drive me a little more than nuts, but at the same time, I know how truly lucky I am to have them all!  At nearly 50 years old, both of my grandpas are still with us, and even though sometimes when  visiting them they may not remember my name, when I see that spark of recognition (or confusion because I look so much like mom), or when I hear one of them say when they hear my name, "That's my girl.", it makes me smile, because you know that somewhere in there... they know... they remember, and that's such a wonderful thing.  It may be fleeting, but it's there.  From both grandpas, to my dad, husband, and sons, I am SO very blessed to be surrounded by their strength, love, support, and craziness from each and every one of them.  Sunday is the day we set aside to honor them, but I am so very grateful for them ALL of the time, and yes, that includes when they're driving me nuts!  Without them, life would be forever changed, and I pray with all of my heart that somewhere in there... I'll know... I'll always remember, and know how truly blessed they make and have made my life.   HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to the phenomenal, crazy, amazing, and wonderful men in my life!  I LOVE YOU ALL!!!

I combined several different stamp sets to create this card.  The image is from Stampin' Up! Harvest Blessing stamp set.  The background panel is the burlap background stamp from Market Street Stamps, and the sentiment is from The Angel Company.  I colored the image with Copic markers R22, R24, R27, R29, C1, C3, C5, and C7, and added some highlights with a white gel pen.  For the grass under the tractor, I used some of my Flower Soft Products.  I used a combination of Tree Textures Clam Shell, and  Flower Soft Meadow.   The burlap ribbon is from Stampin' Up!, and the metal gears are from Tim Holt's Idea-ology line of products.  The edges of all the panels were sponged with Tim Holtz distress ink in Walnut Stain.

A  little closer look at the details.

Thanks for dropping by today.  I hope that YOU have a wonderful and blessed day, and I wish you lots of Happy Stampin'!!!!

Crafting Desert Diva's Linky Party!

Good Morning!!

There's a fun little linky party going on that I'm guest designing for this week, and I've gotta tell you that it was hard to keep this card under wraps till this day came when I could share it!

I LOVE this stamp set, which was a freebie from Peachy Keen Stamps when you placed an order during their Memorial Day Sale.  What a great set to have for all your red, white, and blue patriotic projects, and it was PERFECT for this linky party theme!

Head over to the Craftin' Desert Diva's Blog for all the details about this party, which will last for two weeks.
Here's my Red, White and Blue creation!

I think most of this card is pretty self explanatory, but I'll run through how I put this one together for you.  I first stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and I colored it with Copic markers.  My favorites for this project were B12, B14, B16 and B18, and R22, R24, R27, and R29.  I used some patriotic paper that was in my one sheet wonder bin.  This is an assortment of paper that I got at the great price of 4/$1, but they were single sheets, and many there were only 1 sheet of each.  Hence the One Sheet Wonder bin!  ;-)  I'm not even sure who makes this paper, but any of your favorite red, white and blue papers would be beautiful if you wanted to recreate this one.  For the striped panel behind the heart I used an embossing folder that I purchased from Stampin' Up! last year.  I thought the texture of the stripes was a nice addition to pick up the pattern of the stripes in the image.  The sentiment is a part of this great set from Peachy Keen Stamps, but it was only available for a limited time during their Memorial Day Sale.  I colored the stamp directly with Stampin' Up! markers so that I could do part of it blue and the USA part red.  The ribbon is a simple red grosgrain, but again the texture of the raised ribs/stripes in the ribbon is another subtle bit of texture that ties everything together.  I like it when that happens!!

I think this about does it for today!

It'll be fun to see all of the red, white and blue creations that'll be shared for the linky party right before the 4th of July, which is one of my favorite holidays!  I hope you'll be able to join in the linky party fun!!  PINQUE PEACOCK is sponsoring a GREAT prize valued at
$15.00, so there's even MORE reason to play along!
I. CAN'T. WAIT!

Thanks for stopping by and have a WONDERFUL day filled with happy stamping!

PKS June Release :: Sneak Peeks :: Day 1

WELCOME!!!
I'm so glad you're here, because...

It's FINALLY time to start sharing the sneak peeks of the new release that's coming at Peachy Keen Stamps!  It is SO hard to hold back and NOT share each  month, when we get these stamps and see all that cuteness!!  My card is made using the new Stamp of the Month set, as well as an adorable add on set.  I combined this sneak peek with a little designer challenge going on at Flower Soft.  We were challenged to create a beach scene, and well, you'll see what I mean, but these stamps were PERFECT for that challenge!!

What'd I tell ya?  Aren't these stamps ADORABLE??  The Ultra Fine Sand from Flower Soft worked beautifully to create the sandy beach and add some great texture to the finished piece.  It's a MUST HAVE for all your summer beachy creations as far as I'm concerned!  I LOVE IT!!  The images were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copics.

Drop by The Peachy Keen Stamps Blog to see even more wonderful sneak peeks from my fellow DT Sisters, and be sure to visit their blogs for all the details about their peeks for you tonight.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a wonderful weekend, and remember that this is just Day 1 of Sneak Peek Week, and we've got three more days of sharing with you.  It all leads up to our BIG RELEASE PARTY on Wednesday, June 5th at 6:00 p.m. CDT.  We'll be chatting up a storm, sharing MORE amazing projects, playing games, throwing out some fun challenges for you to play along with, and giving away some free stamps!  Pretty sweet deal, and LOTS of fun!  You can join our EVENT PAGE on Facebook to RSVP.

HAPPY STAMPING!!
