CottageCutz Happy Birthday Kitty

Good morning, and happy Monday to ya!  Today I have to share this cute little kitty card that's just purrrrfect for celebrating a happy birthday for someone special.  This adorable kitten was cut using Cottage Cutz dies from The Scrapping Cottage.  For this one, I used colored card stock, and sponged the edges to give it dimension.  After sponging, I added some stripes to the kitten using Copic markers, and the facial features were all colored using Copics as well. This sweet face is a part of one of the newly released face stamp sets from Peachy Keen Stamps.  Yep!  You heard me right!  More new stamps!!  I used the PK-110 Here Kitty Kitty Face Assortment stamps for this card.   For the white tip on the tail, I simply used a white gel pen and colored in the top part of the tail.

The edges of the card are hand crocheted directly onto the paper using a new item that I recently discovered called the Sharp Crochet Hook.  I was contacted by Jessica, the inventor of this wonderful tool a few weeks ago, asking me if I'd like to try out her patent pending product and write a review about it.  Since I LOVE to crochet, I jumped at the chance, because I was positively intrigued about how it would work crocheting directly onto paper.  I'm happy to report that it worked very well!  I will note that I did go ahead and lightly pierce the paper using a paper piercing tool,  and template.  I did this because I wanted to make sure I had my holes perfectly spaced, and it worked like a charm!  You of course wouldn't have to do that if you're good at eyeballing the placement for the holes, because the sharp end of this crochet hook easily pierces through paper.  Folks, this was just the tip of the iceberg of what you can accomplish with this Sharp Crochet Hook!  I'm loaning my hook to my mom so that she can try it out on her handmade dish cloths.  She puts a beautiful border on them, and struggles with getting a conventional crochet hook to penetrate the double thickness of fabric.  I'll be sure to post an update on how it works for her, and I'll share some photos, too.  This Sharp Crochet Hook comes with the hook, and includes simple instructions for the easy crocheted border you see here.
Here's a closer look at this cutie!

I did include some faux stitching around the plaid panel.  I threaded some seam binding through the picket fence, and I distressed the edges of the circle frame.  The happy birthday sentiment comes from Peachy Keen Stamps PKSC-04.  I used the following CottageCutz dies for this card: (just click on the picture to go directly to The Scrapping Cottage for all the info and pricing)

I hope you've enjoyed my little project today.  I sure enjoyed creating it for you!  I'm so happy you could drop by.  May you have a blessed and beautiful day filled with lots of happy stamping!

Wow! Wonderful card, Lorie! Love, love, love the crocheted edge! That is one marvelous tool. It's been years since I've done any crocheting. Maybe this will inspire me to try again. And, as usual, your coloring and design are fabulous!!!
