Hello, and Happy Friday! The end of a work week, and the beginning of what I hope to be a wonderful weekend! Allen and I are going out to dinner tonight with our pastor/great friend, Mary Ellen, and we're looking very forward to that! Being out, but NOT on the town, because we're gong to Heartland Lodge for dinner, and that's about as far out of town as you can get. Our youngest son, Trevor will be cooking for us tonight. He has been the assistant chef there for a few months, and he LOVES it! I'm thinking the elk steak with cranberry merlot sauce sounds pretty good, but I may change my mind. I'll just have to see what sounds good when we get there. Be sure to check out the link above for their menu, and additional info.

Now on to the card I'm sharing with you today. This one was made for DS#1 for his birthday next Saturday. He will be 25 years old on the 18th! Sheesh!! Where does the time go? My sweet little towheaded boy is all grown up!! He works as a sheriff's deputy in our county, and he too LOVES his job. The pay leaves something to be desired, but he loves his work, so that's all that matters. When I saw this digital image on Victoria Case Art Designs website, I knew instantly that I HAD to have it for Tyler's birthday. This layout is from Victoria Case's Challenge Blog. Jump on over there and play along. I tried to color this fella to look like Ty in his uniform, and I think I got pretty close. I dug out some very retired SU Playground DP, because the colors matched well, and it looked more masculine than a lot of the papers I have. The stars are gold star brads, and I took a chocolate chip marker and colored over them. The color seperated and dried, and looks like old or cracked paint, which is a pretty cool effect for this card. I did some faux stitching (still no machine at Granny's), and added the Happy Birthday sentiment from my new SU set On Your Birthday, which was part of an incentive gift from my very generous upline, Nancy Williams. Thanks, Nancy!!! The speckled look to this card was done with my trusty color spritzing tool, which I haven't used in forever! I love the look, and it's so much easier (and neater) than paint and an old toothbrush, which is what I always used when tole painting. I don't think Tyler gets to overwhelmed over his cards, but he'll surely like the cash that will be inside, so it's all good!
Here's a picture of my Tyler, not in his county uniform, but in his city cop attire. It's a little more casual than what the county requires, and if I'm not mistaken, he looks like he might have a chew in his mouth! I think I need to make an effort to get a good picture of him without that!! Have a very happy birthday my handsome young man! You know I'll love you forever! I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, as long as I'm living, my baby you'll be. That is from the Robert Munsch song, which eventually became a book. You can check that out here. I bought both my boys a copy of that book a long time ago. I cry every time I read it!! What can I say...I'm a sap.I'm so happy you could join me today! I have a couple of things to share with you tomorrow for the Sweet Stop Challenge, so be sure to come back then. Are you ready for some Christmas in July? It's only 167 days till Christmas!! That doesn't sound like long, does it? See you tomorrow! May our Lord bless and keep you today and always!
Love Ya!
